Cocktail with Bee's Knees

Cocktail with Bee's Knees

Only three components are needed to make a Bee's Knees cocktail: gin, honey, and lemon. Simple, sweet, and quite tasty!

A tasty drink does not require a sophisticated recipe. A Bee's Knees cocktail has only three ingredients: gin, honey, and lemon, yet their combination creates a beautiful drink.

A Bee's Knees is worth trying even if you don't consider yourself a gin drinker. With floral overtones from the gin and a rich, sweet flavor from the honey, it's the perfect mix of sweet and sour.

I'm not sure what kind of gin to use.

The Bee's Knees does not necessitate the use of expensive ingredients. Any of your mid-range gins would do the work, however I wouldn't recommend anything with a handle or in a plastic bottle. Brokers, Boodles, and Bombay are three excellent examples.

I'm not sure what kind of honey to use.

There are a plethora of various types of honey available. Yes, you can use the honey that comes in a bear from your local grocery shop to make a delicious drink. This is a wonderful application if you're really into (or have been aching to test) some artisanal, local, or whatever honey.

It's a lot of fun to experiment with different types of honey to see how they affect the flavor of the cocktail. I prefer the cocktail with a darker honey since it lends a richer, almost molasses-like flavor. If you want to buy something online, Bee Raw's Washington Buckwheat honey and Bee Seasonal Aroeira honey are also excellent possibilities.

I'm not sure what kind of glass I should use.

This has been served without ice in a cocktail glass, but I prefer it in an old fashioned glass with one large ice cube. This keeps the drink chilled, but if you're not a fast drinker, it will dilute it.

Try a Twist!

As I previously stated, this cocktail only requires three ingredients, but you can add more if you want to spice it up. A sprinkle of lavender bitters, which gives a pleasant flowery edge to the proceedings, is my favorite way to prepare a Bee's Knees. Experiment with different types of bitters if you have a favorite. Making drinks is a lot of fun because you get to discover new things.

More 3-Ingredient Cocktails to Try!

Combine the honey and boiling water in a mixing bowl. Stir until everything is well combined. The syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a month.

To make the drink, follow these steps:

In a cocktail shaker, combine the gin, 1 ounce honey syrup, and lemon juice. Add the ice and shake for about 30 seconds, or until the shaker frosts. In a cocktail or old fashioned glass, place a single large ice cube. Strain the cocktail into a glass and top with a lemon peel garnish. Enjoy!

Note:
There is enough honey syrup to make 8 cocktails. Combine 1 tablespoon (or 1/2 oz) honey with 2 tablespoons (or 1 oz) boiling water to make enough honey syrup for one drink.
